Here Is some Questions that maybe on your mind…
1. Why have you created this website?
I created this website to show people its not all that difficult living on your own, it maybe at the start but it gets easier as the days go on. But also to show people there is support out there if needed.
2. When you say you can point me in the right direction, what do you mean?
Well if you need any help and support I will give you advice on where to go for example. ‘Do I really have to pay my full rent even though my job only pays a little?’, My reply would be ‘In some circumstances, No. Go down to your local Job Centre or Call the Job Centre Plus on 0800 055 6688 and they will be able to help. Let me know how you got on and if there is any other ways I can assist please contact me.’
3. Do you feel living on your own has turned out for the best?
Yes, Ofcourse I do! I have more independent skills than most of my friends and I can show that I have come this far and you can too.
4. What would you suggest for me as an approaching 18 year old care leaver to do before I move into my own flat?
Plan ahead!, Plan as far ahead as you can. For example start saving as much money as you can because when you have money to decorate your flat and buy the things you want, you will feel so much better but also search around on local business for things you will need such as Toaster, Kettle, Cutlery Set etc… It’s allways handy to have everything written down for when the time does come that you move out and know what you want and where to get it. All about planning ahead! Start buying little bits and pieces here and there, the only thing I brought before I moved into my Flat was Chopping Boards and a Dish Cloth, the rest I brought either the Night before or the Morning of the move.
5. Do I need to pay anything to recieve extra support – such as email?
